Introduced annual forb to 1m tall. Leaves in a rosette at the base of the plant, 3-20cm long, 10-50mm wide, hairless, lobed, with hairs on the margins, with blunt ends with a straight point. Flowering stems three winged. Flowers tubular, with 5 cream to yellow lobes and pale mauve, pale blue, or whitish papery sepals, clustered in 1-2 rows subtended by leaf like bracts along and at the tops of the stems.
