Grass like perennial forb to 80cm tall. Leaves basal, with a sheath at the base, 10-80cm long, 1.3-3mm wide, flat, hairless, with 2 teeth at the tip. Male and female flowers on different plants. Flowers fragrant, white, pink, or mauve, with 6 ‘petals’, loosely scattered over the branches of flower stems arising from the base of the plant. Family Lomandraceae in NSW, Liliaceae in SA.
