Shrub or perennial forb to 1m tall. Leaves more or less succulent, alternating up the stems, 0.5-1.4cm long, about 1mm wide, flattened cylindrical, woolly, with blunt tips. Male and female flowers on different plants. Flowers tiny (less than 3mm across), solitary at the bases of the leaves. Fruiting bodies grey-green to beige, pale to dark brown when dry. Fruiting body horizontal wing with 0 slits, occasionally 1 slit; top of the body hairy, wing and lower body hairless.
