Perennial forb in fresh water to 1m deep or in mud, stems to 3m long. Leaves basal and alternating up the stems, base cordate, 3-20cm long, flat, more or less circular, hairless, deeply notched at the base, margins with rounded teeth or lobes. Flowers with with a short tube and 5 (occasionally 4 or 6) yellow 'petals', in spaced pairs along a short inflorescence or in clusters of 8-20 subtended by 1-4 stem leaves. Rare SA. Threatened list Vic.
