Annual forb to 15cm tall.  Basal leaves forming a distinct rosette. Stem leaves alternating up the stems, with basal lobes.  Leaves 0.5-2cm long, to 7mm wide, flat, hairy. Flowers inconspicuous, with yellow centres surrounded by many blue-green bracts, with 0 petals. Flower heads cup-shaped, in open groups, rarely solitary, borne at the ends of the stems.
