Notes

Perennial grass 13cm-90cm tall.  Leaves with a hairy to hairless sheath at the base.  Ligule a fringe of hairs. Leaves 15-35cm long, 1-4mm wide, flat, or threadlike with the edges rolled inwards under dry conditions, hairless or hairy.  Spikelets green to purplish, becoming straw-coloured, 12-24mm long excluding the longest awn.  Mature seed groups oval to cylindrical.  Seeds with three awns.  Austrodanthonia caespitosa  in SA.
