Perennial grass 20-70cm tall. Leaves with a hairy or hairless sheath at the base. Ligule a fringe of hairs. Leaves 10-25cm long, 1-2mm wide, threadlike with the leaf edges rolled in, rarely flat, more or less hairy. Spikelets greenish tinged purple, 11-18mm long excluding the longest awn. Mature seed groups spreading or oval. Seeds with three awns. Was Austrodanthonia eriantha.
