Introduced annual forb to 45cm tall. Leaves opposite each other, the bases united and encircling the stem, 1-3cm long, 2-5mm wide, flat to linear, hairy. Flowers green with 0 petals, or with 5 white or pink petals which are not obvious, in groups at the ends of the stems or solitary at the bases of the leaves.
