Common Name

Rat's Tail Couch, Short Rat's Tail Grass, Swamp Rat's Tail Grass




Perennial grass, erect to 70cm tall or sprawling.  Leaves with a hairless sheath at the base.  Ligule a fringe of hairs.  Leaves 1-12cm long, 2-3mm wide, threadlike or flat, rarely folded lengthwise, hairless on the lower surface and often rough on the upper surface, with rough edges and a long fine point.  Spikelets green, 1-3mm long. Mature seed groups cylindrical. Seeds with 0 bristles.
