Introduced biennial or perennial forb to 40cm tall. Leaves forming a basal rosette, 5-40cm long, 10-100mm wide, flat, hairless or sparsely hairy, toothed to deeply dissected, with pointed tips. Flowers with many yellow 'petals'. Flower heads below the 'petals' broad cylindrical, borne singly on stems arising from the base of the plant.
Several species, formerly known as Taraxacum officinale. Taraxacum officinale in NSW, Taraxacum cygnorum, Taraxacum khatoonae, Taraxacum (2 unnamed species), Taraxacum gracilens, Taraxacum hepaticolor, Taraxacum multidentatum in SA.
