Perennial forb or shrub to 1.5m tall. Branches succulent. Leafless. Flowers small (less than 3mm across), in spikes 0.5-2cm long, at the ends of the side branches. Fruit  slightly fleshy. Was Sclerostegia disarticulata.

Definite differentiation between most species of Tecticornia depends on details of the seeds, which needs a microscope to see.
