Introduced annual grass to 1m tall. Leaves with a hairy or hairless sheath at the base. Ligule a membrane without a fringe of hairs. Leaves 10-60cm long, 7-20mm wide, flat, hairy or rough. Spikelets 10-17mm long excluding the awns. Seeds with 0-3 awns. Mature seed groups cylindrical.
