Related species

There are eight species listed under the genus Cephalothrips from around the world. Only C. hesperus has been described from North America, and this differs from the widespread C. monilicornis in having the eyes not prolonged on the ventral surface of the head. Whereas C. monilicornis is associated with grasses, C. hesperus has been taken in low numbers from various living and dead plants, and possibly should be placed in some other genus.

Biology unknown, specimens have been beaten from various plants, living and dead.
