
This species has not been studied by the present authors. According to Nakahara (1995: 236) it is distinguished from the other five species he placed in Ewartithrips by the bicoloured antennal segment VI and the presence of sculpture lines medially on the tergites.
This species was described in Ewartithrips, a genus proposed for six species from California. However, separation of this Californian genus from the Mediterranean genus Tenothrips is doubtful (Bhatti, 2003).
Collected from Salvia apiana [Lamiaceae] and presumably flower-living.
Known only from California.
