Dialeurodicus bondariae sp. nov.

Nomenclature [Martin 2004 Zootaxa: 40]

Dialeurodicus bondariae sp. nov.

Biology [Martin 2004 Zootaxa: 40]Few samples seen, appearance rather cryptic;

Host [Martin 2004 Zootaxa: 40]: Lauraceae:   indet plant [Martin 2004 Zootaxa:41].

Distribution [Martin 2004 Zootaxa: 40] Neotropical:  Belize [Martin 2004 Zootaxa:41].

Taxonomy [Martin 2004 Zootaxa: 40-41]:   Puparial shape is slightly asymmetric.

Margin fine with "pseudoteeth"; nine pairs of rays  toward mesad from pupal margin and meeting intersegmental divisions in all but the I/II and II/III abdominal divisions; pro-/meso- & meso/metathorac rays terminate into an apical dorsal cluster of granular-like structures resembling radular teeth.

Vasiform orifice elongate-chordate about 1 & 1/4 longer than wide basally covered by laterally rounded operculum bearing a pair of posterior setae similar to lingular setae;  lingular inserted with exposed part triangular;  .

15 pairs of submarginal setae  present, including caudal pair; very fine, similar length to operculum, and not closely approaching margin;  single pairs of submedian cephalothoracic setae similar to submarginal setae; 8th abdominal setae little more robust; anterior & posterior marginal setae present.

Compound pores absent; dorsum punctuated by equally spaced granular simple pores, each appearing as notched on one side;  similar simple notched pores forming a marginal row and each with a "tail" pointing mesad; tiny dark 4-5 loculate pores punctuate the entire length of each of the 9 rays with similar pores lining the longitudinal moulting suture, the caudal area between the vasiform orifice & the caudal margin, and border the sides of the vasiform orifice; each loculate pore is associated with an adjacent porette.

Related species [Martin 2004 Zootaxa: 41] similar to Dialeurodicus radifera (Sampson & Drews) but differs according to the following table: the vasiform orifice & the pores.

Dialeurodicus bondariae sp. nov.

Dialeurodicus radifera (Sampson & Drews)

vasiform orifice

about 1 & 1/4 times longer than wide.

more rounded and as long as wide.
dorsal disc densely porate moddled markings simulate but are apparently not pores
