Nomenclature  [Martin 2004 Zootaxa: 51]:

Metaleurodicus  variporus sp. nov.

Biology [Martin 2004 Zootaxa: 51]:  Waxy secretion consists of  fine, transparent filaments;  each dorsal compound pore secreting long and brittle filaments;  each small submarginal cup-shaped pore also secreting short waxy rods forming a short fringe.

Distribution [Martin 2004 Zootaxa: 52]:  Neotropical:  Belize  [Martin 2004 Zootaxa: 52].

Host [Martin 2004 Zootaxa: 52]:    ?Euphorbiaceae;  Urticaceae:  Urera sp.  [Martin 2004 Zootaxa: 52]

Taxonomy [Martin 2004 Zootaxa: 51-52]:

Vasiform orifice chordate; covered by a transversely rounded-rectangular operculum with a sinuate posterior margin marked by a pair of fine setae;  lingula tongue-shaped exserted from orifice extending half way from orifice to margin.

Anterior  (minute) & posterior marginal setae (size same as caudal setae) present;   12 pairs of hairlike submarginal setae;  dorsal disc setae restricted to A-8.

7 pairs of compound pores present:  compound pore size variable (see table below); each compound pore contains a small truncate central process extending slightly beyond the pore margin.
