Paraleyrodes citri Bondar
Nomenclature :
Paraleyrodes citri Bondar [Bondar, 1931: 24].
Host : Rutaceae: Citrus aurantium [Bondar, 1931: 24].
Distribution: Nearctic: Mexico [S.E.L.], & USA (Texas) [S.E.L.]. Neotropical: Brazil [Bondar, 1931: 24][S.E.L.] & Panama [S.E.L.].
Natural Enemies [Meyerdirk et al., 1980]: Delphastus pusillus (LeConte) & Nephaspis oculatus (Coleoptera, Coccinellidae)
Taxonomy: The first two reduced abdominal compound pores are about one-fourth the size of the large compound pores with the first reduced pore closer to the midline than the other abdominal pores.
The large compound pores with about 10 splines and associated cells surrounded by another annulus (ring) of more than 20 additional cells.
Simple discoidal pores associated with most abdominal compound pores: one pore with the first reduced CP, two pores with the second reduced & second large abdominal compound pores, and one each with the other large compound pores except the most posterior compound pore.
Related species: Similar to Paraleyrodes citricolus Costa Lima, Paraleyrodes goyobae (Goldi), & Paraleyrodes pulverans Bondar without disc pores present between the vasiform orifice & the last abdominal compound pore. Differs remarkedly from Paraleyrodes citricolus Costa Lima which has a stylized central lumen consisting of central polygonal cells, where as this species lacks this stylized design.
