Paraleyrodes perplexus sp. nov.

Nomenclature:

Paraleyrodes perplexus  sp. nov. [Martin 2004 Zootaxa: 67].

Distribution: Neotropical:  Belize [Martin 2004 Zootaxa: 68].

Host Asteraceae: indet. [Martin 2004 Zootaxa: 68];  Flacourtiaceae:  Casearia sylvestris [Martin 2004 Zootaxa: 68];  Piperaceae:  Piper ycatanense.  [Martin 2004 Zootaxa: 68].

Natural Enemies: Unknown.

Taxonomy [Martin 2004 Zootaxa: 67]:

Cephalic & posterior four abdominal compound pores subequal in size and structure (20-25 μm in overall outer diameter) with a plain central lumen;  inner ring bearing splines (Martin, 1996);  anterior two abdominal compound pores reduced, each with 15-20 mm in outer diameter.

Bright discoidal pore absent between vasiform orifice and last posterior compound pores.  Abdominal segment IV each submedian side with 2-5 bright pores.  Abdominal  segments III and V-VIII usually with a single subdorsal pore.

Crater-like pores present in the outer submargin numbering about two between each pair of  setae.   Submargin wrinkled (weakly rugose?) extending to crater-like pores.    Appears to be the one of two species with these crater-like pores and a wrinkled submargin (P. ancona sp. nov.).

Related species [Martin 2004 Zootaxa: 67]: Very similar to P. pseudonaranjae Martin but differs in the presence of submarginal crater-like pores, weakly wrinkled submargin,  and a bright discoidal pore between the vasiform orifice last posterior compound pore.  Similar to P. ancona sp. nov. since both have crater-like submarginal pores (however,  in the latter they number 3 pores between each pair of setae.
