Paraleyrodes pulverans Bondar
Nomenclature :
Paraleyrodes pulverans Bondar, 1923: 98.
Biology [Bondar, 1923: 98]: Pupal case pale yellow; shape subovoid;
Host : Arecaceae: Cocos nucifera [Bondar, 1923: 98]; Meliaceae: Guarea trichiloides [Bondar, 1923: 98][Costa Lima, 1928: 135]; Rubiaceae: Chomelia oligantha [Bondar, 1923: 98].
Distribution: Neotropical: Barbados [S.E.L.], Brazil [Bondar, 1923: 98][S.E.L.] & Guadalupe [S.E.L.].
Taxonomy [Bondar, 1923: 98]:
Larger cephalic & four posterior compound pores subequal in size and structure; central lumen of large cephalic compound pore with inner annulus (ring) composed of 6 spineret cells; central lumen of large abdominal compound pores with inner annulus (ring) composed of 8 to 9 spinneret cells bearing 6 or more splines radially arranged; outer annulus composed of 18 to 19 spinneret cells..
Dorsal simple discoidal pores present on thorax & abdomen; each larger cephalic & abdominal compound pore associated with one simple discoidal pore except pore is lacking on segment VIII between the compound pore & the vasiform orifice.
First anterior reduced compound pore pair closer to midline. Two anterior abdominal compound pores smaller (about 25% of the diameter of the larger compound pores) with faint spinneret cells containing usually 2 splines per compound pore; associated with 7 to 9 simple discoidal pores.
Related species: Similar to Paraleyrodes citri Bondar, Paraleyrodes citricolus Costa Lima, & Paraleyrodes goyobae (Goldi) without disc pores present between the vasiform orifice & the last abdominal compound pore. Differs remarkedly from Paraleyrodes citricolus Costa Lima which has a stylized central lumen consisting of central polygonal cells, where as this species lacks this stylized design.
