Genus: Aleuroclava Singh
Nomenclature [Martin 1999:31-32]:
Aleuroclava Singh, 1931 90-91
Aleurotuberculatus Takahashi, 1932: 20
Martiniella Jesudasan & David, 1990: 7-8
Biology [Martin 1999:31-32]: Puparia pale to black or variously patterned; small usually 0.9 mm or less.
Distribution [Martin 1999:31-32]: Old world genus (predominately Oriental & Australasian but also in the Palaearctic Regions) comprising about 100 species. Some have been collected in quarantine from Mexico and other Nearctic/Neotropical regions including in greenhouses in Florida & California
Taxonomy [Martin 1999:31-32]: Outline. Sometimes flattened and pyriform. Margin. Thoracic furrow terminates into differentiated margin as pores, shallow indentations, or plate-like structure. Caudal furrow terminates into a pore or notch. Dorsum. Defined area separating submargin from subdorsum may be absent. If present, may occur either as a margin-concentric fold (complete, partial, or suture-like) on dorsum or both dorsum & venter; or as a submarginal line of closely set tubercles. Vasiform orifice trapezoidal to subcircular with usually notched on the posterior margin and leads into a short caudal furrow. Operculum entirely covers orifice; lingula obscured
Similar Genera: Notice that Aleurotuberculatus and Martiniella
are now considered as synonyms of Aleuroclava.
