Genus:   Bakerius  Bondar

 Nomenclature  [Penny & Arias, 1980: 691-695]:

Bakerius  Bondar, 1923: 40.  Type species  Bakerius phrygilanthi Bondar.

Distribution [Penny & Arias, 1980: 691-693]: South America (Brazil)

Taxonomy [Penny & Arias, 1980: 691-693] Terminal claw present on each leg.   Three pair of compound pores (one pair on cephalothorax and two pairs  on abdomen on segments III & IV); compound pores may contain a dagger or spine-like central process about the same length as the maximum diameter of the compound pore. Vasiform orifice contains an inserted lingula (glossary definition).   Key to the genus available [Martin, Zootaxa 2004: 16].

Similar genera [Martin, Zootaxa 2004: 16]:   Similar to Ceraleurodicus but differs by having two pairs of abdominal compound pores on segments III & IV only with dagger-shaped or spine-like  central processes that is similar in length  to the  maximum pore diameter. One species has been moved from Aleurodicus: Bakerius marmoratus [Martin, 1985: 312 and 2008: 53].

Ceraleurodicus usually asymmetrical in shape but sometimes ovoid; has more than two abdominal compound pores sometimes either on one side or as pairs that may be positioned or lacking below  the vasiform orifice ; with the central process either absent or very long extending to the margin of the pupal case.

Do not confuse with prepupal stages of many of the Aleurodicinae:  a total of two compound pores on the thorax, and none on the abdomen.
