Genus: Crenidorsum Russell
Nomenclature [Martin 2005: 37-38] [Russell 1945: 55-57]:
Crenidorsum Russell 1945: 55-65
Biology [Martin 2005: 37-38] [Russell 1945: 55-57]: Puparia normally pale to brown in color.
Distribution [Martin 2005: 37-38] [Russell 1945: 55-57]: Most from the Neotropical regions with a few from the Pacific, India, and Taiwan.

Submargin not separated from dorsal disk by a fold; a pair of longitudinal, subdorsal folds present and extends from the cephalothorax to at least the anterior portion of the abdomen; the pair usually overlapping the legs and may be lined by a scalloped-like pattern. Caudal furrow absent and thoracic tracheal folds absent or little evident. Chaetotaxy. Cephalothorax setae present and variable; A1 pair of setae absent.
Similar genera: Similar in various aspects to Aleurotrachelus & Aleurotulus.
1. Aleurotrachelus differs in that Crenidorsum has the pair of longitudinal submedian folds extending well into the abdomen whereas the former has folds usually are confinded to the cephalothorax.
2. Aleurotulus differs from Crenidorsum in that it has no submedian folds; and, that the lingula is long, spinulose, knobbed and excluded whereas the latter has the lingula inserted when folded, but may be exserted when unfolded, but not knobbed and spinulose.
