Genus: Trialeurolonga Martin
Nomenclature [Martin 2005: 60-62]:
Trialeurolonga gen. nov.
Biology: Monobasic genus with large, pale puparium.
Distribution: Neotropical.
Taxonomy: Cuticle pale. Margin. Finely crenulate and modified at the tracheal clefts. Dorsum. Submargin with a row of glandular papilla that are shaped differently than with Trialeurodes or Dialeurolonga: each papilla modified acutely with two dorsal prongs & one and one ventral prong. Vasiform orifice is at least wide as long with an operculum that completely obscures the lingula. Chaetotaxy. Dorsal setae only present submedially on the cephalothorax, A1, A8, and caudal segments. Pores. Geminate pores/porettes regularly distributed on the dorsum.
Natural Enemies: Unknown
Similar Genera: A submarginal row of papillae are present as in Trialeurodes,
but each papilla is differentiated by having 3
acute prongs (2 dorsal & 1 ventral, hence "trifida")
that Trialeurodes lacks. Also, in
Trialeurodes the operculum rarely obscures the lingula completely.
