Distribution and Habitat

South-west of Margaret River, growing in sandy soils in coastal woodlands and shrublands, flowering best in the season following summer fire.

Description

A late flowering species 250–350 mm high with a hairy leaf 120–170 mm long by 4–9 mm wide and up to three variably coloured red, cream, green and yellow flowers 50–60 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Broad-lipped Spider Orchid (Caladenia applanata) by its later flowering period, smaller flowers and forward-projecting, laterally concave labellum with up-curved, rather than spreading labellum fringe segments.
