Distribution and Habitat

Lancelin to Yarloop, growing in sandy soils in near coastal woodlands and shrublands.

Description

A common species 300–600 mm high with a hairy leaf 150–250 mm long by 5–12 mm wide and up to three variably red, white and pale yellow flowers 60–80 mm across. All sepals have narrow apical clubs.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Tuart Spider Orchid (Caladenia georgei) by its darker coloured flowers, longer, usually narrowly clubbed petals, shorter, broader labellum fringe segments and more inland distribution on the Swan Coastal Plain.
