Distribution and Habitat

Calingiri to Munglinup, growing in sandy-clay and clay soils in woodlands and shrublands. The species is particularly common on the edges of seasonally wet flats and water courses.

Description

A common, widespread species with a scarcely hairy leaf 40–60 mm long by 5–10 mm wide and one (rarely two) creamy-white, greenish-yellow and red flowers 20–30 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Narrow-lipped Dragon Orchid (Caladenia mesocera) by its shorter, often more colourful petals and sepals, broader, hairier labellum lamina and more westerly and southerly distribution.
