Distribution and Habitat

Dunsborough to Cape Naturaliste, growing in soil pockets on coastal granite outcrops. A disjunct population in forest near Capel has not been seen for some years.

Description

A rare coastal subspecies 150–250 mm high with a hairy leaf 100–150 mm long by 2–4 mm wide and up to three mustard-yellow flowers 50–70 mm across The subspecies is often found growing in clumps.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the subsp. caesarea by its smaller flowers, earlier flowering period and coastal granite outcrop habitat, this latter feature also distinguishing it from the other subspecies.
