Distribution and Habitat

Cervantes to Israelite Bay, growing in sandy and sandy-clay soils in forests, woodlands and shrublands.

Description

A widespread species 150–400 mm high with a hairy leaf 60–150 mm long by 5–7 mm wide and up to two greenish-yellow and red flowers 10–15 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Dwarf Zebra Orchid (Caladenia pachychila) by its taller scapes, larger darker-coloured flowers, hanging petals and lateral sepals and wider, more rounded labellum which is held well above the horizontal and has a smaller apical callus.
