Distribution and Habitat

Pithara to Coorow with a disjunct population west of Beverley, growing in sandy soil on rises above saline lakes and flats.

Description

A rare species 180–400 mm high with a hairy leaf 80–150 mm long by 4–5 mm wide and one (rarely two) greenish-yellow and red flowers 15–20 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Mohawk Spider Orchid (Caladenia voigtii) by its slightly smaller, more darkly marked flowers, narrowly heart-shaped labellum with taller globular tipped calli and northerly distribution.
