Distribution and Habitat

Tone River to Tunney, growing in lateritic soils in forests and woodlands.

Description

An uncommon species 100–250 mm high with a hairy leaf 70–90 mm long by 2–3 mm wide and up to two blood-red flowers 50–60 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Slender Spider Orchid (Caladenia pulchra) and Blood Spider Orchid (C. filifera) by its much smaller flowers, usually more stiffly held petals and sepals and south-westerly distribution.
