Distribution and Habitat

Mt Barker to Wongan Hills, growing in sandy-clay and lateritic soils in open forests, woodlands and shrublands.

Description

A relatively common species 200–350 mm high with a hairy leaf 60–150 mm long by 2–4 mm wide and up to three blood-red flowers 30–50 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Dundas’ Spider Orchid (Caladenia dundasiae) by its narrower, longer, more pendulous petals and lateral sepals, larger uniformly red labellum and its later flowering period.
