Distribution and Habitat

Yuna to north of Southern Cross, growing in shallow soil pockets on granite outcrops and ironstone hills and in deeper sandy soils in surrounding shrublands.

Description

An inland species 150–300 mm high with a hairy leaf 100–150 mm long by 4–6 mm wide and one (rarely two) greenish-yellow and red flowers 15–20 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the closely related Purple-veined Spider Orchid (Caladenia doutchiae) by its broader band of taller labellum lamina calli, its dorsal sepal often (rather than rarely) having a prominent club and its more north-easterly occurrence in lower rainfall areas.
