Distribution and Habitat

Ongerup to Esperance, growing in clay and sandy-clay soils in mallee-woodlands.

Description

A rare species 140–240 mm high with a hairy leaf 80–200 mm long by 6–12 mm wide and up to two green, red and white flowers 50–70 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the similar Fringed Mantis Orchid (Caladenia falcata) by its tricoloured labellum with a white section between the maroon apex and the green lateral lobes, longer labellum fringe segments and less steeply upswept lateral sepals that have a drooping rather than erect, apex.
