Distribution and Habitat

Woodanilling to Katanning, growing in sandy and sandy-clay soils in open woodlands and shrublands.

Description

A rare species 150–350 mm high with a hairy leaf 80–120 mm long by 3–5 mm wide and up to three lemon-yellow flowers 70–100 mm across. The species regularly hybridises with Common Spider Orchid (Caladenia varians) and Chameleon Spider Orchid (Caladenia dimidia) to produce a confusing array of intermediate forms.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Mustard Orchid (Caladenia caesarea by its paler yellow to cream flowers and prominently recurved labellum.
