Distribution and Habitat

Arrowsmith to Dandaragan and between Perth and Capel, growing in sandy and sandy-clay soils in woodlands and shrublands, flowering best in the season following summer fire.

Description

An attractive, near coastal species 150–300 mm high with a hairy leaf 100–150 mm long by 3–4 mm wide and up to two creamy-white and pink or pinkish-red flowers 50–70 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Crimson Spider orchid (Caladenia footeana) by its less uniformly coloured flowers, longer petals and sepals, paler labellum lamina calli and confinement to near-coastal areas between Dongara and Bunbury.
