Distribution and Habitat

Badgingarra to Bridgetown and eastwards to Ravensthorpe, growing in clay and sandy-clay soils in forests, woodlands and shrublands.

Description

A robust species 350–700 mm high with a hairy leaf 150–250 mm long by 10–18 mm wide and up to three red, yellow and dull green flowers 60–85 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Carbunup King Spider Orchid (Caladenia procera) by its shorter scapes, often darker colouration, shorter labellum, smaller column and more easterly range of distribution.
