Description

A rock-loving species 150–350 mm high with a hairy leaf 50–120 mm long by 6–10 mm wide and up to two (rarely three) creamy-white or pale yellow flowers 50–60 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Glistening Spider Orchid (Caladenia incensum) by its generally narrower leaf, smaller, dull, creamy to creamy-yellow flowers with narrower, down-curved to pendulous petals and lateral sepals and smaller labellum. It also inhabits ironstone rather than granitic soils. It is also allied to Banded Ironstone Spider Orchid (C. saxicola) and like that species, inhabits rocky ironstone hills. It differs, however, in having smaller flowers, down-curved to pendulous petals, creamy-white labellum lamina calli, often with pale pink markings, and a more north-westerly distribution.
