Distribution and Habitat

Northampton to Munglinup, growing in sandy, sandy-clay and granitic soils in woodlands and shrublands. In inland areas the species is common on granite outcrops.

Description

A clumping species 150–350 mm high with a hairy leaf 50–180 mm long by 5–7 mm wide and up to two red and cream flowers 40–80 mm across. Two forms are known, the type form in the wheatbelt and adjacent goldfields and a smaller flowered form between Northampton and Eneabba.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from other members of the Caladenia filamentosa complex by its backward arching dorsal sepal and dense bands of labellum lamina calli.
