Distribution and Habitat

Perth to Bremer Bay, growing in sandy, sandy-clay and lateritic soils in forests, woodlands and shrublands. In the northern part of its range the species is mainly confined to seasonally wet flats and drainage lines but in southern areas is common in upland habitat.

Description

A late flowering species 250–600 mm high with a prominently hairy leaf 100–200 mm long by 4–20 mm wide and up to three creamy-white (more rarely red), red-marked flowers 80–100 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related White Spider Orchid (Caladenia longicauda) by its often more colourful flowers and later flowering period.
