Distribution and Habitat

Brookton to Corrigin, growing in sandy and sandy-clay soils in Mallee woodlands and shrublands.

Description

A geographically restricted species 160–210 mm high with a hairy leaf 60–150 mm long by 2–4 mm wide and up to three creamy-white, pale yellow or pale red flowers 50–70 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Dwarf Common Spider Orchid (Caladenia hiemalis) which has a similar early flowering period by its variably coloured flowers, longer, petals and lateral sepals and more inland range of distribution.
