Description

Corysanthes species have a smooth, rounded or heart-shaped, ground-hugging leaf and a single dull coloured flower with minute, poorly developed petals and lateral sepals, a large dorsal sepal and a large labellum. Following fertilisation the developing seed capsule is raised on an elongated peduncle (stalk) which extends up to 300 mm above the leaf as an aid to seed dispersal.
