Distribution and Habitat

Mt Magnet to Beacon, growing in shallow soil pockets on granite outcrops, flowering equally well in burnt and unburnt bushland.

Description

A northern, inland species 60–120 mm high with a shortly hairy leaf, 20–40 mm long by 10–15 mm wide , which is green on the underside and up to two strongly-fragrant, pale blue to bluish-mauve (rarely white) flowers 20–40 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Powder-blue China Orchid (Cyanicula ashbyae) by its sweetly fragrant floral odour and leaf which is green rather than tinged reddish-purple underneath.
