Distribution and Habitat

North of Abyssinia Rock to west of York, growing in sandy and sandy-clay soils in woodlands and shrublands, flowering best in the season following summer fire.

Description

A little known subspecies 50–120 mm high with a shortly hairy leaf, 20–40 mm long by 12–20 mm wide, which is either green or tinged reddish-purple on the underside and up to two (rarely three) pale blue flowers 40–50 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the often co-occurring Blue China Orchid (Cyanicula gemmata) by its pale blue flowers and prominently striped labellum.
