Distribution and Habitat

Fitzgerald River National Park to Israelite Bay, growing in soil pockets on granite outcrops, flowering best in the season following summer fire.

Description

A south-eastern species 70–130 mm high with a shortly hairy leaf, 25–50 mm long by 8–12 mm wide, which is tinged reddish-purple on the underside and up to two (rarely three) pale blue flowers 20–40 mm across. The species previously known as Condingup China Orchid (Cyanicula sp. 'Esperance') is now considered a form of C. nikulinskyae.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the often co-occurring Blue China Orchid (Cyanicula gemmata) by its paler blue flowers and taller cylindrical calli.
