Widespread in the Kimberley region, Halls Creek, Broome, Kunanurra, growing as partial epiphytes on trees. Plants extend roots into the rotting heartwood of limbs and trunks where moisture is retained after rainfall. This habit enables the species to tolerate an array of habitats from semi-arid spinifex woodland to rainforest in the north-western Kimberley. The species is also found in the Northern Territory, Queensland and New South Wales.
