David Jones & Mark Clements in Lindleyana 2:157-160 (1987)

Distribution and Habitat

Perth to Israelite Bay, growing in sandy, sandy-clay and granitic soils in forests, woodlands and shrublands. In inland areas northeast of Esperance the species occupies shallow soil pockets on granite outcrops. The species is also found in South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania.

Description

A widespread species 100–300 mm high with a smooth, rounded, ground-hugging leaf 30–60 mm long by 20–50 mm wide and up to eight reddish-brown to greenish-fawn flowers 5–6 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It has fewer, larger flowers and a broader labellum than the related Midge Orchid (Cyrtostylis huegelii).
