Distribution and Habitat

Ongerup to Israelite Bay, growing in sandy, sandy-clay and lateritic soils in mallee-woodlands and shrublands.

Description

An early flowering species 150–300 mm high with two to three smooth leaves 80–150 mm long by 3–5 mm wide and up to seven yellow, brown and mauve flowers 17–22 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Winter Donkey Orchid (Diuris brumalis) by its shorter stature, fewer flowered inflorescence, smaller flowers and southerly distribution.
