Distribution and Habitat

Bridgetown to Rocky Gully, growing in sandy-clay and clay soils in seasonally wet flats, flowering best in the season following summer fire.

Description

A tall species 500–800 mm high with two to three smooth, terete leaves 150–200 mm long by 1.5–2.5 mm wide and up to seven yellow and brown flowers 20–30 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Augusta Bee Orchid (Diuris sp. ‘Augusta’) by its more northerly and north-easterly distribution, slightly larger flowers and generally earlier flowering period. From Bee Orchid (D. laxiflora) it is distinguished by its larger flowers and broader labellum midlobe and lateral lobes.
