Distribution and Habitat

Mogumber to Israelite Bay, growing in sandy-clay soils in open woodlands and shrublands.

Description

A common species 80–300 mm high with two to five smooth, terete leaves 50–120 mm long by 1–1.5 mm wide and up to three (occasionally up to five) small, yellow, brown marked flowers 8–11 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is related to Bee Orchid (Diuris laxiflora) but is shorter in stature and has smaller flowers with a shorter, broader labellum midlobe. It also has an earlier flowering period and unlike D. laxiflora often forms clumps of plants.
