Distribution and Habitat

Known from 3 disjunct populations from York to Lake Muir, growing in sandy soil on the edges of seasonal swamps, flowering best in the season following summer fire. Note: the species has not been seen for many years.

Description

A rare species 250–450 mm high with six to 10 smooth, terete leaves 80–120 mm long by 1.5–3 mm wide and up to seven pale yellow, brown marked flowers 20–25 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is very similar in morphology to Bristly Donkey Orchid (Diuris setacea), appearing to differ only in having straight rather than twisted leaves.
